How is it lost "b'Inyan Ra"?

1.

Ibn Ezra: It brought evil on its owner.

2.

Rashbam: He did not benefit from it.

3.

Seforno: [Not via strong-arms,] rather, via a mishap.

4.

Metzudas David: Due to pretexts, he needed to give large bribes to save himself from the evil that wealth stuck to him.

What do we learn from "v'Holid Ben v'Ein b'Yado Me'umah"?

1.

Rashi: The son does not have even Zechus Avos.

2.

Ibn Ezra: The wealth 'gave birth' to evil. Had it been lost without begetting evil, it would be half evil.

3.

Rashbam: Later 1 he fathered a son, and has nothing to bequeath to him.

4.

Ri Kara: The father did not benefit from his wealth, and does not leave it to his seed, for it was lost.

5.

Seforno: He fathered a son amidst wealth, and has nothing to bequeath to him. Via this, he is pained also due to his son.

6.

Metzudas David: While he had the wealth, he did not have a son to benefit from it. It was lost, so the son will not benefit from nor inherit it.

Rashbam expounds that "v'Holid Ben" teaches that this was after he lost his wealth. Perhaps this causes greater anguish - even his Simchah over the birth of a son was marred due to his loss! Or, refer to 5:13:2:6. (PF)
