R. Meir (Erchin 5b): "Bnei Yisrael" can be Ma'arich 1 (pledge Erchin), but. Nochrim cannot. "Ish" teaches that even Nochrim can be Ne'erachim (pledged).

R. Yehudah (Erchin 5b): "Bnei Yisrael" can be Ne'erachim, but Nochrim cannot. " Ish" teaches that even Nochrim can be Ma'arich.

Rosh: This is a merit for Bnei Yisrael - through giving the Erchin value of your souls, I will save you from the birth pangs of Mashi'ach and Gehinom, about which it says "Aruch me'Esmol Tafteh" (Yeshayah 30:33), and I will set a table in front of you - "Ta'aroch Lefanai Shulchan" (Tehilim 23:5).
