1)

How were the hangings and the screen (entrance) on the east side arranged?

1.

Rashi and Rashbam: Five Amos from the final easternmost pillars on both the north and the south to the first of the three pillars that flanked the gateway on either side, five Amos to the second pole and from the second pole to the third one; and twenty Amos screen hanging on four pillars in the middle, drawn back - around which people entered the Azarah - . 1

2.

Rashbam: The curtains in the middle took up twenty Amos held by four pillars, with fifteen Amos on either side held by three pillars.

1

Riva (in Pasuk 10) learns that also here, the Pasuk does not count the pillars at the end of the north flank/Masach/south flank/south side. Refer to 27:10:1:2 and note. However, if the curtains were attached to the pillars of the Masach, it seems that there was not room in between to enter the Chatzer! (PF).

2)

What were the pillars of the Chatzer made of? The Torah did not specify!

1.

Moshav Zekenim (38:29) and Yalkut Shimoni (Pekudei 425): The pillars were made of cedar wood (which we learn from the pillars of the Masach 1 - Moshav Zekenim).

2.

Maharil Diskin (DH 've'Amudav'): They were made of copper. 2

1

R. Chaim Paltiel: Hashem gave those who made the Mishkan Chochmah, Tevunah and Da'as to Sasum (what is not mentioned) from Meforash (what is mentioned).

2

Moshav Zekenim (in 38:29): Do not say that "Amudeihem Esrim ve'Adneihem Esrim Nechoshes" (in 38:10) means that also the pillars were made of copper, because "Veha'Adanim la'Amudim Nechoshes" (38:17) implies that the pillars themselves were not made of copper.

3)

Bearing in mind that the Torah does not write here, in the command, that the tops of the pillars should be covered with silver - only below, in 38:19 when they actually made them, how did the workers know to cover them with silver?

1.

R. Chaim Paltiel: Hashem gave those who made the Mishkan Chochmah, Tevunah and Da'as. They knew to learn Sasum from what is explicit - 'that Chishuk' (written here) and 'Tzipuy Rosh' (mentioned below) are the same. 1

The Torah writes both expressions in 38:17 & 19); It is like a 'Prat u'Chelal (PF).
