1

Refer to 18:13:2:1.

2

Since the Torah follows Yisro's departure with "ba'Chodesh ha'Shelishi". Refer also to 18:27:3:2.

2)

1

Refer to 18:13:2:1**.

3)

Why did he refuse to accompany them to Eretz Kena'an?

1.

Seforno: On account of his old age. 1

2.

Mechilta: Because he considered it inappropriate 2 for a Ger to travel together with Yisrael (Refer to 18:27:1:2*). 3

1

Like Barzilai ha'Gil'adi in the time of David ha'Melech (Shmuel 2, 19:38 [Seforno]). Yisro's sons however, did accompany Yisrael to Eretz Kena'an - as is evident in Seifer Shoftim (1:16).

2

Though this is difficult to understand, bearing in mind the large contingent of Erev Rav that accompanied them out of Egypt.

3

According to Machzor Vitri (Refer to 18:27:1:2), it was Moshe who sent Yisro away for that very reason - because he did not want a Nochri to 'interrupt' between Yisrael and their Creator.
