QUESTIONS ON RASHI
Rashi writes that he gave to her brother and mother fruits. Why did he not give [more esteemed] gifts, like the custom, and like he gave to Rivkah?
Malbim: The matter was from Hashem, and does not depend on her family. The gifts to Rivkah were in place of Kidushin.
Ha'Emek Davar: The verse hints that the Chasan must make the nuptial feast 1 , and one who marries a girl on condition to supply her clothing, he gives it while she is in her father's house, before entering her husband's house (Kesuvos 67a).
Ha'Emek Davar: This is like the Yerushalmi, which says that this was like Nisu'in. The She'altos holds that the Bavli holds that it was merely Kidushin. If so, this shows that the Chasan must make Seudas Eirusin.
