RESPONDING IN HALEL TO A SLAVE, A WOMAN OR A CHILD (Yerushalmi Halachah 9 Daf 15b)

(a)

(Mishnah): If a person had a slave, a woman, or a child reading the Halel for them, he should repeat the words that they say, but he is accursed (for being such an ignoramus).

(b)

If an adult male is reading for them, they should respond with "Halelukah".

(c)

(Gemara - Beraisa): The undisputed Halachah is that a woman may recite Birkas Hamazon for her husband, a slave for his master or a child for his father.

1.

Question: We understand that a woman may bless for her husband and a slave for his master (as a woman and a slave are obligated to bless);

2.

But how can a child bless for his father? Did R. Acha quoting R. Yosi ben Nehurai not say that any Mitzvos that they discussed in relation to a child were merely for the sake of education (but the child has no obligation at all)?

3.

Answer: This case refers to when the listeners answer "Amen" (so it is as if they had actually recited the blessings themselves). It is like the case (of our Mishnah) that teaches that if a person had a slave, a woman, or a child reading the Halel for them, he should repeat the words that they say, but he is accursed.

4.

They also said that a 20 year old who needs a 10 year old to recite the blessing for him is accursed.
