SUMMARY

1. If Yayin Nesech is mixed with wine, or Mayim Nesech is mixed with water, even when the mixture contains only a minute amount of the Isur, the mixture is forbidden.

2. If Yayin Nesech is mixed with water, or Mayim Nesech is mixed with wine, the mixture is forbidden if the Yayin or Mayim Nesech adds taste.

3. Rav Yitzchak bar Yosef says that if Yayin Nesech is poured from a small watering utensil into wine, the Yayin Nesech is Batel in the wine even if it is poured the entire day.

4. Ravin says that when Yayin Nesech falls into wine, and then water also falls into the wine, if more water than Yayin Nesech falls in, the mixture is permitted.

5. Chizkiyah says that when Yayin Nesech falls into water, if the water is the majority the Yayin Nesech is Batel. Even if wine subsequently falls into the wine, it is permitted. However, when Yayin Nesech falls into wine, even if water had already fallen in, the wine is prohibited.

6. Sourdough of Chulin and of Terumah fall into dough, and each one alone is not enough to make the dough rise. According to Rebbi Eliezer, if the Terumah fell in last, the dough is prohibited. If the Chulin fell in last, the dough is permitted.

7. The Chachamim say that even if the Terumah fell in last, the dough is permitted.

8. A cup of Chulin wine was diluted in water, and a cup of Terumah wine was diluted in water. The two cups were mixed together. Between the two cups there is enough water to be Mevatel the wine of Terumah. Rebbi Yochanan says that the wine is permitted to non-Kohanim.

9. Rav and Shmuel say that when any item prohibited by the Torah becomes mixed with its own type it is not Batel, even when the prohibited item in the mixture is a minute amount. If it is mixed with a different type, it is Batel, unless there is enough to give taste to the mixture.

10. Rebbi Yochanan and Reish Lakish say that any item prohibited by the Torah is Batel in a mixture, whether it is mixed with its own type or with a different type, unless there is enough to give taste to the mixture, with the exception of Yayin Nesech and Tevel.

A BIT MORE

1. Rav Dimi says that the mixture is forbidden only if the permitted wine or water fell into the Yayin or Mayim Nesech, If the Yayin or Mayim Nesech fell into the permitted wine or water, the mixture is permitted if the permitted wine or water is the majority of the mixture.

2. According to Rav Dimi, even if the Yayin or Mayim Nesech gives taste to the mixture, it is forbidden only if the permitted wine or water fell into the Mayim or Yayin Nesech. If the Mayim or Yayin Nesech fell into the permitted wine or water, the mixture is permitted, if the permitted wine or water is the majority of the mixture.

3. Every little bit of Yayin Nesech which is poured into the wine becomes Batel as soon as it falls in. Rav Yitzchak argues with Rav Dimi. He maintains that if the Yayin Nesech was poured from a barrel, the mixture is forbidden, since a large stream of Yayin Nesech is poured in at one time.

4. Yayin Nesech which falls into wine is not Batel. If water also falls in, the water is Mevatel the Yayin Nesech. However, there is a disagreement about whether the water is Mevatel the Yayin Nesech if it fell in to the wine after the Yayin Nesech already fell in.

5. Rebbi Yochanan says that even if the Yayin Nesech falls into wine, the water is Mevatel the Yayin Nesech if water also falls into the wine.

6.Even if the Chulin fell in last, Rebbi Eliezer permits the dough only if the Terumah was removed before the Chulin fell in.

7. The Chachamim prohibit the dough only if the Terumah alone is enough to make the dough rise.

8. Although wine of Terumah which falls into wine of Chulin is Batel only in one hundred parts of Chulin, since it also fell into water the wine of Terumah is Batel in the water if there is more water than Terumah.

9. According to Rav and Shmuel, all other prohibitions of the Torah are no different from Yayin Nesech. Just as Yayin Nesech which falls into its own type (wine) is not Batel, all other prohibitions which fall into their own type are not Batel.

10. Yayin Nesech which falls into its own type (wine) is not Batel because of the stringency of Yayin Nesech. Tevel which falls into its own type is not Batel, because just as a large amount of Tevel can be permitted by separating even a minute amount of Terumah, a minute amount of Tevel prohibits even a large amount of produce.
