A BIT MORE
1. They would bless each other by saying, "The One Who gives life should give you a long, good, and appropriate (i.e. problem-free) life." 2. Why does the verse need to say years "of life"? When it says "years," it obviously means years of life, because there is no such thing as "years of death"! The Gemara explains that this refers to years in which a person's problems are resolved and he lives full and rich years "of life." 3. He should give wine to Torah scholars to drink. 4. A Kohen Gadol who came out alive was greeted by many people who accompanied him home from the Beis ha'Mikdash. However, when the people saw Shemayah and Avtalyon, the two leading Torah scholars of their generation, they quickly abandoned the Kohen Gadol and went to greet the two sages. 5. The Kohen Gadol remarked to Shemayah and Avtalyon, "The sons of the nations should go in peace," referring to the fact that Shemayah and Avtalyon were descended from converts. Shemayah and Avtalyon replied, "The sons of nations should go in peace, as they act like Aharon, as opposed to the son of Aharon who should not go in peace, as he does not act like Aharon."
