SUMMARY Rebbi Yehudah says that moles and rats may be trapped on Chol ha'Mo'ed from orchards in the normal way by means of digging a hole and placing a trap. In a regular field they may only be trapped with an alternate method. (1)   Rebbi Yosef says a broken wall may be repaired on Chol ha'Mo'ed with palm branches and planks and the Beraisa says it may be repaired regularly with stones as long as no plaster is used. (2)   A wall that is leaning over toward a public thoroughfare may be knocked down and rebuilt on Chol ha'Mo'ed because it poses a danger.   Rebbi Meir says that a Kohen may look at a Nega Tzara'as on the Mo'ed but he may only make a decision if it is a leniency. Rebbi Yosi says that the Kohen may not look at it because once he sees it he must make a decision even if it is a stringency.   Both Rebbi Meir and Rebbi Yosi agree that a Kohen may not look at Nega Tzara'as on Chol ha'Mo'ed if the person is presently Tahor. They also agree that in the first seclusion period (Hesger Rishon) the Kohen may see the Nega. The dispute between them is with regard to the second seclusion period (Hesger Sheni).   According to one version of Rebbi, we follow the opinion of Rebbi Meir and allow a Kohen on Chol ha'Mo'ed to see a Nega when it comes to a Metzora Musgar and we follow the opinion of Rebbi Yosi and don�t allow a Kohen to see a Nega when it comes to a Metzora Muchlat. The second version of Rebbi is vice versa. (3)   According to Rebbi Yehudah a Metzora is only prohibited from marital relations during the days that he is counting and not during his isolation period. Rebbi Yosi bar Yehudah maintains that the prohibition applies also during his isolation period.   A Chasan that develops a Nega on his body, on his clothing, or on his house is given a grace period from the seven days of Sheva Berachos. A BIT MORE 1. The alternate method for trapping moles and rats is to insert a rod into the ground and bang on it with a hammer. The alternate method only needs to be used in a field next to the town but in a field next to an orchard the normal method may be used.   2. Rebbi Chisda says that only the wall of a garden may not be repaired in the normal way but the wall of a courtyard may be repaired normally because of the danger from thieves.   3. The two versions regarding when Rebbi allows the Kohen to see the Nega on Chol ha'Mo'ed depend on whether a person prefers the company of his wife or the company of others. If a person prefers the company of his wife we will allow the Kohen to see the Nega during the seclusion period (Hesger) but not during the isolation period (Hechlet). But if a person prefers the company of others we will allow the Kohen to see the Nega only during the isolation period.

BRIEF INSIGHT The Gemara says that the dispute between Rebbi Meir and Rebbi Yosi is with regard to the second seclusion period (Hesger). However their dispute is certainly also with regard to the isolation period (Hechlet). The basis of the dispute regarding a Metzora Muchlat is as follows: according to Rebbi Meir a person prefers the company of others even at the expense of marital relations, therefore the Kohen may see the Nega of a Muchlat on Chol ha'Mo'ed even though it may be Tahor and the Metzora will now be prohibited from marital relation. According to Rebbi Yosi a person may prefer the company of his wife and therefore the Kohen may not see the Nega of a Muchlat on Chol ha'Mo'ed. (Nachalas David) QUICK HALACHAH Building on Chol ha'Mo'ed is forbidden no matter how minor. However, If the wall of a garden or the dividing wall between two properties is breached one may repair it unprofessionally without using plaster. (Shulchan Aruch OC 540:1)   Since the wall is not intended to keep out thieves, but merely to keep people from entering the property, and if he would not rebuild it there would not be a substantial loss, we only permit it to be repaired unprofessionally.
