SUMMARY

1. If a person worships his own animal as an Avodah Zarah, it may not be used for a Korban.

2. If a person is forced by a Nochri to worship his animal in private, the animal is permitted, but in public, it is forbidden.

3. Something used as a base for an Avodah Zarah, during the period of a decree that everyone must worship Avodah Zarah, remains forbidden even after the decree is repealed.

4. If a person worships his friend's animal, it may be brought as a Korban. If he worships it by pouring wine between its horns, it becomes forbidden.

5. If a person bows down to land, it is permitted, but if he digs ditches in the land for an Avodah Zarah, it is forbidden.

6. If a person bows down to an animal, it does not become forbidden. If he exchanges it for an Avodah Zarah, it becomes forbidden.

7. If a person sells fruit of Orlah and is Mekadesh a woman with the proceeds, the Kidushin is valid.

8. If a person exchanges produce of Shevi'is for meat, the meat attains the Kedushah of Shevi'is, and the produce retains its Kedushah.

9. Hashem does not eradicate Avodah Zarah from the world, because the Nochrim worship the sun, moon, and stars. Hashem does not destroy the world because of the acts of fools.

10. If a person steals produce and plants it, in all fairness it should not sprout. However, the laws of nature remain in place and the foolish transgressors will eventually be punished.

A BIT MORE

1. Although one may benefit from an animal which was worshipped, one may not bring it as a Korban. An animal becomes forbidden for a Korban when worshipped by its owner.

2. If a person worships Avodah Zarah in front of ten other Jews, it is a Chilul Hashem even if he was compelled to do so. Therefore, the animal is prohibited.

3. Although they were compelled to worship the Avodah Zarah, the base is forbidden because it was used as a base for an Avodah Zarah in front of ten Jews. Alternatively, it is forbidden because we assume that there was at least one Yisrael Mumar who worshipped the Avodah Zarah willingly.

4. A person can cause the property of his friend to become forbidden with a physical act.

5. Land worshipped as Avodah Zarah does not normally become forbidden. However, if an action was done to the land for an Avodah Zarah, it becomes forbidden.

6. There is a disagreement about whether the animal becomes forbidden if it is exchanged for an item which was exchanged for an Avodah Zarah.

7. It is forbidden to derive benefit from the fruit of Orlah. If the fruit is exchanged or sold, the proceeds are permitted mid'Oraisa but prohibited mid'Rabanan. Since the prohibition is only mid'Rabanan, the Kidushin is valid.

8. If the meat is exchanged for fish, the fish attains the Kedushah of Shevi'is. The meat loses its Kedushas Shevi'is. The original produce of Shevi'is retains its Kedushah.

9. Even non-essential items which are worshipped as Avodah Zarah are not destroyed. Destroying such items -- while leaving the sun and moon intact -- would encourage the worshippers of the sun and the moon.

10. If a person has relations with the wife of his friend, in all fairness she should not conceive. However, the laws of nature remain in place, and the foolish transgressors will eventually be punished.
