SUMMARY

The brine of chopped fish of Nochrim is also permitted only if the head and spine of each fish is perceptible, according to Rav Huna. Rav Nachman disagrees. 4. Grasshoppers and apple cider of Nochrim are permitted if they are brought in from storage, but not if they have been taken out to be sold. 8. A BIT MORE
1. A Kilbis would not be swimming in the brine if brine from a non-kosher fish was mixed in. If it was a closed jug of brine, one Kilbis is sufficient. If the jug was open, there must be at least two Kilbis swimming in the brine. If there is only one Kilbis, there is a concern that the Kilbis fell into the brine from somewhere else. 2. It is possible to ascertain whether a fish is kosher by the shape of the head and the appearance of the spine. However, the Kashrus status of certain types of fish can be ascertained only by the presence of fins and scales. 3. According to Rav Nachman, it is sufficient if either the head or the spine of each fish is perceptible. 4. Since all of the pieces fit together, it is obviously from one big fish. Therefore, if one piece is from a kosher fish, all of the pieces are kosher. 5. If a bird's egg is wide on both ends or pointy on both ends, it is from a non-kosher bird. If the yolk is on the inside, it is from a kosher bird. If it is on the outside, it is from a non-kosher bird. 6. Even if the olives are very soft they are permitted. There is no concern that wine was mixed in because we assume that it is the oil from the olives which softened them. However, if the olives are so soft that when they are taken out of the jar the pit slides out, they are forbidden, according to Rebbi Yosi. 7. Once they have been taken out to be sold, there is a concern that wine may have been mixed in. 8. The Kohen would be afraid to sell Terumah from his storehouses as Chulin because of the fear that the Chachamim will discover his fraud and confiscate all of the produce in his storehouses. 9. According to Rebbi Meir, even if only a minority of the statues are worshipped as Avodah Zarah, the statues everywhere are forbidden. 10. According to the Chachamim, only a statue which is gripping one of these items is worshipped as Avodah Zarah.
