SUMMARY
One time a person was carrying Kodesh while holding a torn shoelace that was Tamei Midras. The shoelace fell into the Kodesh and made it Tamei. As a result, the Chachamim decreed that one who carries an item that is Tamei Midras may not carry Kodesh at the same time. One time a person was carrying the water and ashes of the Parah Adumah on a boat, and it was discovered that there was a k'Zayis from a corpse on the bottom of the boat. As a result, the Chachamim decreed that a person who carries the water or ashes of the Parah Adumah may not cross the Yarden on a boat. (1) Rebbi Ila: If a person defies the decree and carries a Tum'as Midras together with Kodesh, the Kodesh becomes Tamei. Rebbi Zeira: It is Tahor. Utensils of a Chaver that were guarded from Tum'ah from the time they were completed require immersion for Kodesh. (2) Rebbi Eliezer and Rebbi Yehoshua disagree about a tube that was cut by a Chaver for the purpose of using it for the Parah Adumah. (3) The Chachamim were Metamei the Kohen who burns the Parah Adumah, in order to refute the assertion of the Tzedukim that the Parah Adumah may be processed by a person as long as he has undergone He'erev Shemesh. A tube made for use with the Parah Adumah is given the status of a Tamei Mes on its seventh day of Tum'ah. The Chachamim never impose a Tum'ah on a utensil that is used for the Parah Adumah if the utensil is not at all susceptible to Tum'ah. (4) Only a utensil that is specifically designated for sitting or lying on it is susceptible to Tum'as Midras. If one food item in a utensil used for Kodesh contracts Tum'ah, all of the food items in the utensil are Tamei. Rebbi Shimon ben Beseira testified that if a Tevul Yom touches some of the ashes of the Parah Adumah, all of the ashes in the utensil become Tamei. (5)
A BIT MORE
1. Rebbi Chananya ben Akavya: This decree applies only to crossing the Yarden on a boat. Similarly, the decree that prohibits carrying Tum'as Midras together with Kodesh applies only to Kodesh not to Terumah. Chachamim: This decree applies to carrying the water and ashes of the Parah Adumah on all rivers, and it applies even when carrying it while riding on an animal. Similarly, the decree that prohibits carrying Tum'as Midras together with Kodesh applies to Kodesh as well. 2. Immersion is required because of the possibility of the saliva of an Am ha'Aretz that was on the utensil prior to completion and was still damp at the time of completion. 3. Rebbi Eliezer: It should be immersed immediately. Rebbi Yehoshua: It is first made Tamei and subsequently it is immersed. 4. However, when the utensil is already susceptible to Tum'ah, the Chachamim sometimes institute a novel Tum'ah if the utensil is used for the Parah Adumah. 5. Rebbi Akiva added to that testimony with his own testimony that if a Tevul Yom touches some of the flour of the Minchah, Ketores, Levonah, or coals of Kodesh, the entire contents of the utensil become Tamei.

BRIEF INSIGHT
The Chachamim decreed that one who carries an item that is Tamei Midras may not carry Kodesh at the same time. The Gemara asks, does the decree apply also to carrying a shoe that is Tahor together with Kodesh? The Rashash asks, why should there be an assumption that it applies to carrying a shoe that is Tahor, when the Mishnah specifically says it applies to Tum'as Midras? Moreover, if the decree would apply to a shoe that is Tahor, then everyone who carries Kodesh would have to walk barefoot, because wearing a shoe is tantamount to carrying it. The Rashash answers that certainly the decree does not apply to a shoe that is Tahor. The question of the Gemara is only with regard to a shoe that is Tahor for Terumah but is regarded as Midras for Kodesh.
QUICK HALACHAH
The Tzedukim said that the Parah Adumah may only be processed by a person who underwent He'erev Shemesh. The Rabanan, during the times of the second Beis ha'Mikdash, refuted the claim of the Tzedukim by being Metamei the Kohen with a Sheretz before he burned the Parah Adumah. He then immersed himself and subsequently occupied himself with the Parah Adumah, in order to refute the assertion of the evildoers that make impetuous determinations instead of abiding by the Mesorah. Additionally, all of the utensils that were used for the ashes of Parah Adumah were Tevulei Yom. (Rambam, Hilchos Parah Adumah 1:14)
