PAST CYCLE DEDICATION

BERACHOS 21 (4 Elul) - Dedicated l'Iluy Nishmas Chaim Yisachar (ben Yaakov) Smulewitz of Cleveland on his Yahrzeit, by his daughter and son in law, Jeri & Eli Turkel of Raanana, Israel.

SUMMARY

1. The obligation to recite Birkas ha'Mazon after being satiated from eating bread is a Torah obligation.

2. The obligation to recite Birkas ha'Torah (the blessing before learning Torah) is a Torah obligation.

3. If one starts to say Shemoneh Esreh and then he realizes that he already said it, he should stop immediately without finishing the blessing.

4. Kedushah must be recited with a Minyan.

5. One who teaches Torah to his son Torah is considered as though he personally received the Torah from Har Chorev (Sinai).

A BIT MORE

1. The verse states, "And you will eat and you will be satiated, and you will bless.."

2. This is derived from the verse, "When I call the name of Hashem, give greatness to our G-d."

3. However, if someone is saying Shemoneh Esreh of Shabbos and mistakenly starts saying a weekday blessing, he should finish the blessing (unless he is reciting Musaf).

4. This is derived from the verse, "And I will be sanctified among the congregation (Edah) of Bnei Yisrael." The Gemara derives through a Gezeirah Shavah that "Edah" refers to ten people.

5. The verse states, "And you shall inform your sons and your son's sons.. the day that you stood before Hashem your G-d at Chorev."
