SUMMARY

1. There is an argument regarding which materials were used to make the belt of a regular Kohen in the Beis ha’Mikdash.

2. There is an argument regarding whether one is obligated in Reishis Ha’Gez if he sold each swath immediately after it was sheared.

3. There is an argument regarding a field that is owned by one person, while the trees in it are owned by a second person.

4. The Mishnah discusses the Mitzvah of Shiluach ha’Ken (sending a mother bird away before taking its eggs or chicks).

5. Shiluach ha’Ken does not apply to birds that are in one’s house.

A BIT MORE

1. Some say it was made of wool and linen, as was the belt of the Kohen Gadol during the year (as opposed to Yom Kipur when it was made of fine line). Other say it was made of fine linen, while the belt of the Kohen Gadol during the year was made of wool and linen.

2. Some say he is exempt, as he never compiled five swaths, which is the amount from which one must give Reishis Ha’Gez. Some say he is obligated, as he indeed owned five swaths, as each of the first five that he owned were called "Gez Tzoancha" - "the shearing of your sheep" (since, he did own them for a short time before selling them).

3. Tana Kama: The person who owns the trees must leave Pe’ah from each tree. Rebbi Yehudah: If the person who owns the field takes Pe’ah from his field, the owner of the trees does not need to take Pe’ah.

4. It applies both in Eretz Yisrael and outside of Eretz Yisrael, whether or not there is a Beis ha’Mikdash.

5. It only applies to birds that are ownerless, as implied by the verse, "when you chance upon a bird’s nest."
