SUMMARY

1. The Shtei ha'Lechem of Shavuos and the Lachmei Todah may not be made into Chametz with the juice of apples, according to the Rabanan. Rebbi Chanina ben Gamliel disagrees.

2. If apples of Terumah were used to make dough of Chulin become Chametz, the dough is forbidden to non-Kohanim.

3. Rav Eila says that the most difficult form of Kemitzah is the Kemitzah of a Minchas Chotei. Rav Yitzchak bar Avdimi says that water may be mixed with it in order to make the Kemitzah easier.

4. According to Rav, if less than the size of an egg of the flesh of a calf swelled to the size of an egg, if it is presently the size of an egg it is Metamei Tum'as Ochlin. Shmuel disagrees.

5. If less than the size of an egg of the flesh of a calf swelled to the size of an egg, everyone agrees that it is Metamei at least a Tum'ah d'Rabanan, and it is also Metamei the Tum'ah of Pigul and Nosar.

6. If the flesh of an old animal decreased to less than the size of an egg, everyone agrees that it is not Metamei Tum'as Ochlin.

7. If food, a Mes, a Neveilah, a Sheretz, or meat of an animal that is Pigul, Nosar, or Chelev was placed in the sun and shrunk to less than the size of an egg, olive, or lentil, and subsequently was placed in the rain and swelled back to its original size, it is Metamei, and it is subject to Pigul, Nosar, and Chelev.

8. If one designates Terumah from fresh figs on behalf of dried figs, he must evaluate the proportion of Terumah by number. If one designates the Terumah from dried figs on behalf of fresh figs, he must evaluate the proportion of Terumah by measure.

9. Rebbi Elazar b'Rebbi Yosi says that when one designates Terumas Ma'aser from dried figs on behalf of fresh figs, the proportion of Terumah must be evaluated by number.

10. If one designates more than a tenth of his produce for Ma'aser, it exempts the produce, but the Ma'aser is a mixture of Tevel and Ma'aser.

11. Aba Elazar ben Gomel says that both Terumah Gedolah and Terumas Ma'aser may be designated by estimation and with Machshavah.

A BIT MORE

1. According to the Rabanan, fruit juice does not make dough become Chametz. Only water makes dough become Chametz.

2. Since Terumah was used to make the Chulin become Chametz, it is not nullified. Even if there are one hundred parts of Chulin more than Terumah, the Terumah is not Batel. Even according to the Rabanan, who maintain that fruit juice does not make dough become Chametz, this dough is forbidden to non-Kohanim; even though it is not complete Chametz, it is Chametz Nuksheh (partial Chametz).

3. According to Rav Eila, since no oil is put in a Minchas Chotei, the Kemitzah is very difficult because the flour falls apart. Nevertheless, water may not be mixed with the flour. Rav Yitzchak bar Avdimi maintains that although oil may not be put in a Minchas Chotei, it is permissible to mix water with the flour in order to make the Kemitzah easier.

4. The minimum size for Tum'as Ochlin is the size of an egg; if the flesh is presently the size of an egg, it is Metamei according to Rav, even though it was originally less than the size of an egg. However, if it is presently less than the size of an egg, it is not Metamei Tum'as Ochlin even if it was originally more than the size of an egg. Shmuel disagrees and maintains that the original size is what matters. If it was originally the size of an egg, it is Metamei Tum'as Ochlin, and if it was not originally the size of an egg, it is not Metamei.

5. Although the Tum'ah of Pigul and Nosar is d'Rabanan, if the flesh is presently more than the size of an egg it is Metamei, even if it originally was less that the size of an egg.

6. Even though it originally was more than the size of an egg, it is not Metamei since it shrunk to less than the size of an egg. However, if it subsequently swelled and regained its original size of an egg, according to Rav it is Metamei. According to Shmuel, since at some point it was less than the size of an egg, it became Nidcheh from the laws of Tum'ah and is no longer Metamei even though it is now the size of an egg.

7. This Beraisa contradicts the opinion of Shmuel, who says that the flesh of an animal that shrunk to less than the size of an egg is Nidcheh from the laws of Tum'ah and is no longer Metamei even though it is now the size of an egg.

8. Fresh figs have a greater volume than dried figs. Although the Torah does not give a Shi'ur for Terumah, one should separate Terumah generously. Therefore, if one designates fresh figs, he should designate by number so that a greater volume will be given as Terumah. If one designates dried figs, he should designate by measure, because if he designates by number a lesser volume will be given as Terumah.

9. Although when evaluating the proportion of Terumas Ma'aser by number a lesser volume is designated, according to Rebbi Elazar b'Rebbi Yosi the Terumas Ma'aser is evaluated by the volume of the figs before it was dried.

10. Ma'aser must be exactly one tenth of the produce. If more than one tenth is designated, the extra amount remains Tevel.

11. The Torah gives a Shi'ur for Terumas Ma'aser, in contrast to Terumah Gedolah for which it gives no Shi'ur. Nevertheless, the Torah compares the two and allows the Shi'ur of a tenth for Terumas Ma'aser to be designated by estimation, and to be designated with Machshavah. The owner may look at one part of his produce with the Machshavah to separate Terumas Ma'aser from that side, and he then may than eat from the produce on the other side.
