SUMMARY
1. The Gemara presents two versions for how to apply Hillel's enactment (Daf 31, #5) to force payment in other cases. 2. The Mishnah and Beraisa discuss the criteria of Batei Arei Chomah. 3. There is a dispute about whether fields are included in Batei Arei Chomah. 4. Rebbi Yehudah and Rebbi Shimon disagree about whether a house with an outer wall that is also the wall of the city is considered within the walls of the city. 5. Houses in a city can have the status of Batei Arei Chomah only if the city was a walled city from the time of Yehoshua bin Nun.

A BIT MORE
1. In both versions, Rava and Rav Papa discuss whether forced payment does not have to be accepted and indeed is not considered accepted (which is why Hillel had to enact his decree), or whether forced payment is considered to have been accepted as long as the person who is owed the money is present (even though he does not want to accept the money). According to the second opinion, Hillel needed to make his enactment only because the person who owed the money could not be found. 2. Any structure inside the walls of a city is included in the law of Batei Arei Chomah: houses, bathhouses, chicken coops, caves, and the like. 3. Rebbi Yehudah: The word "house" in the verse excludes fields, even areas of land that cannot be used for planting such as stony or sandy areas. Rebbi Meir: The phrase "that is in the city" in the verse includes stony or sandy areas in the law of Batei Arei Chomah, since these areas can be used to build houses. 4. Their dispute depends on how to understand the verse describing the house of Rachav: "she dwelled in the wall." Rebbi Shimon: Her house was considered within the walls. Rebbi Yehudah: She is considered to dwell in the wall, and not within a walled city. 5. This status applies even if the city no longer has a wall. In the verse, "Asher Lo Chomah" -- "which has to it a wall," to word "Lo" ("to it") is spelled with both a Vav and an Alef. This indicates that it must have been walled ("Lo" with a Vav), but the same law applies even if it no longer has its wall ("Lo" with an Alef).
