MENACHOS 12 (11 Elul) - Dedicated by Rabbi Mordecai Kornfeld and family l'Iluy Nishmas Rabbi Kornfeld's father, Reb Aharon David ben Mordechai Kornfeld, an exceptional person in all respects - in honor of his first Yahrzeit.

SUMMARY

1. If the Kohen performs Kemitzah, places the Kometz into a Kli, brings the Kometz, or burns it on the Mizbe'ach with intent to eat or burn, outside the Azarah, a portion of the Minchah which is normally eaten or burned, it is Pasul. One who eats it is not Chayav Kares.

2. If the Kohen performed one of the four Avodos with intent to eat or burn, on the following day, a portion of the Minchah which is normally eaten or burned, it is Pigul. One who eats it is Chayav Kares.

3. If the Kohen performed one of the four Avodos with intent to eat or burn, on the following day, a portion of the Minchah which is normally eaten or burned, and another Avodah was done with intent to eat or burn it outside of the Azarah, the Minchah is Pasul, but one who eats it is not Chayav Kares.

4. If the Kohen performed one of the Avodos of a Minchas Chotei or Minchas Kena'os with intent to eat or burn, on the following day, a portion of the Minchah which is normally eaten or burned, and another Avodah was done she'Lo Lishmah, the Minchah is Pasul, but one who eats it is not Chayav Kares.

5. If the Kohen performed one of the Avodos of the Minchah with intent to eat one olive's size of the Shirayim on the following day, and another olive's size outside the Azarah, the Minchah is Pasul, but one who eats it is not Chayav Kares. Rebbi Yehudah disagrees.

6. If the Kohen performed one of the Avodos of the Minchah with intent to eat half of an olive's size of the Shirayim on the following day, and another half of an olive's size outside the Azarah, the Minchah is Pasul, but one who eats it is not Chayav Kares.

7. According to Rebbi Akiva, even if the flesh of the Korban became Pasul with Yotzei, the Zerikas ha'Dam removes the possibility of a Chiyuv Me'ilah. Rebbi Eliezer disagrees.

8. Rav Huna maintains that even according to Rebbi Akiva, if a portion of the Shirayim is missing, there is a Chiyuv Me'ilah on the Shirayim even after the Kometz is burned on the Mizbe'ach. Rava disagrees.

9. If one offers an olive's size of a Kometz, Levonah, Minchas Kohen, Minchas Kohen Gadol, or Minchas Nesachim outside the Azarah, he is Chayav Kares, according to the Chachamim. Rebbi Eliezer says that he is Chayav only if he brings the entire Shi'ur.

10. If one offers either the Kometz or the Levonah of a Minchah outside the Azarah, he is Chayav Kares, according to the Chachamim. Rebbi Eliezer disagrees.

11. If a portion of one of the breads of the Lechem ha'Panim became missing prior to the removal of the Bazichin from the Shulchan, the remaining loaves of the Lechem ha'Panim are Pasul.

12. If the Kohen performs Kemitzah with intent to eat half an olive's size on the following day and to burn half an olive's size on the following day, the Minchah is valid.

A BIT MORE

1. If the Kohen intended to eat the Shirayim or burn the Kometz outside the Azarah, it is Pasul. If he intended to eat the Kometz or burn the Shirayim outside the Azarah, it is valid, since his Machshavah was on a portion of the Minchah which is not normally eaten or burned.

2. If one Avodah was done, or all four of the Avodos were done, with a Machshavah of Pigul, one who eats from the Shirayim is Chayav Kares.

3. A Minchah becomes Pigul only when one Avodah is done with a Machshavah of Pigul and the remaining Avodos are done properly, or when all of the Avodos are done with a Machshavah of Pigul.

4. A Minchas Chotei or Minchas Kena'os offered she'Lo Lishmah is Pasul. Therefore, if one of the Avodos was done she'Lo Lishmah, it is not Pigul. A Minchah is not Pigul if it was done with any other Pesul other than the Pesul of Pigul.

5. According to Rebbi Yehudah, if a Machshavah of Pigul preceded a Machshavah of Pesul, the Minchah is Pigul, whether the two Machshavos were on two different Avodos or on the same Avodah.

6. In this case, Rebbi Yehudah agrees that the Minchah is not Pigul, because the Machshavah of Pigul was on an amount less than the size of an olive.

7. After the Zerikas ha'Dam, the flesh of the Korban is permitted to the Kohanim, and thus there is no longer a Chiyuv Me'ilah. Rebbi Akiva maintains that even if the flesh became Pasul with Yotzei and thus never will be permitted to the Kohanim, nevertheless the Zerikas ha'Dam removes the Chiyuv Me'ilah.

8. Even the opinion that maintains that the Kometz may be burned on the Mizbe'ach when some of the Shirayim is missing, the remaining Shirayim may not be eaten. According to Rav Huna, since the Shirayim are inherently Pasul, the burning of the Kometz does not remove the Chiyuv Me'ilah from the Shirayim. According to Rava, the Shirayim are not considered inherently Pasul, and the Chiyuv Me'ilah no longer applies to the Shirayim after the burning of the Kometz.

9. If the Kohen performs Kemitzah with intent to burn one olive's size of the Kometz on the Mizbe'ach on the following day, according to the Chachamim the Minchah is Pigul. According to Rebbi Eliezer, the Minchah is not Pigul .

10. If the Kohen performs Kemitzah with intent to burn the Kometz, but not the Levonah, on the Mizbe'ach on the following day, or vice versa, according to the Chachamim the Minchah is Pigul. According to Rebbi Eliezer, the Minchah is not Pigul.

11. However, if one of the breads became Tamei, the remaining breads of the Lechem ha'Panim are valid because the Tzitz atones for the Pesul of Tum'ah.

12. However, if the Kohen performs Kemitzah with intent to eat half an olive's size outside the Azarah and an equal amount the next day, the Minchah is Pasul.
