SUMMARY
1. Yo'av grasped the horns of the Mizbe'ach of Shilo, in order to save himself from being killed by Shlomo ha'Melech. Rav explains that Yo'av made two mistakes: Only the top of the Mizbe'ach provides asylum, not the horns; and only the Mizbe'ach of the Beis ha'Mikdash provides asylum, not the Mizbe'ach of Shilo.
2. In the future, when the angel of Rome is exiled to Batzrah he will make three mistakes.
3. The 2000 Amah Techum of a city of refuge also serves as a refuge.
4. If a murderer leaves the Techum of the city of refuge, there is a disagreement whether it is a Mitzvah for the relative of the victim to kill him.
5. If a father kills his son b'Shogeg, his other son does not become a Go'el ha'Dam. However, his grandson, the son of the victim, does become a Go'el ha'Dam.
6. If a tree standing inside a city has branches which protrude outside the city, there is a disagreement between Rebbi Yehudah and the Chachamim regarding its status for Ma'aser Sheni (if it is in Yerushalayim) and for a city of refuge (if it is in a city of refuge).
7. A tree is standing inside a city of refuge, but its branches protrude outside of the city. According to Rava, there is a disagreement between Rebbi Yehudah and the Chachamim regarding whether the Go'el ha'Dam may climb the trunk in order to kill a murderer who is on the branches.
8. If a person murders b'Shogeg, for a second time, while in the city of refuge, he is exiled to a different neighborhood in that city.
9. If the residents of the city of refuge attempt to honor the exiled murderer, he must notify them that he is a murderer.

A BIT MORE
1. Abaye says that Yo'av made a third mistake: the Mizbe'ach serves as a refuge only for a Kohen while the Avodah is in his hands.
2. He will mistakenly believe that Batzrah is a city of refuge for an angel that commits murder b'Mezid. In truth, Batzrah is a refuge only for a person who commits murder b'Shogeg.
3. However, the Techum of the city may not be used for a place of residence even in tunnels under the ground.
4. Rebbi Yosi ha'Glili maintains that it is a Mitzvah for the relative to kill him. If there is no relative, anyone may kill him. Rebbi Akiva maintains that it is not a Mitzvah for the relative to kill him, but he has the right to kill him.
5. The son of the murderer may not be the Go'el ha'Dam, because a son may not be a Shali'ach Beis Din to hit or curse his father unless the father is a Mesis.
6. The Rabanan maintain that the part of the tree inside the walls of Yerushalayim or inside the city of refuge has the status of Yerushalayim or the city of refuge. Ma'aser Sheni may be eaten there, but not redeemed. The murderer may not be killed by the Go'el ha'Dam while he is on that part of the tree. The part of the tree outside the city is not considered part of the city. Ma'aser Sheni may be redeemed but not eaten, and if the murderer is on that part of the tree he may be killed by the Go'el ha'Dam. Rebbi Yehudah says that the status of the trunk of the tree is given the stringencies of the branches. Therefore, if the branches are inside the city, the Ma'aser Sheni may not redeemed even on the trunk which is outside the city. The murderer may not be killed, and if the branches are outside the city the Ma'aser Sheni may not be eaten, even on the trunk which is inside the city. However, the murderer may not be killed if he is on the trunk of the tree.
7. Rebbi Yehudah maintains that he may climb the trunk to reach the branches, even though the trunk is inside the walls of the city of refuge. The Chachamim disagree.
8. A Ben Levi who kills b'Shogeg in the city of refuge is exiled to a different city of refuge.
9. If the residents tell him that they wish to honor him nevertheless, he may accept the honor.
