==========
FOOTNOTES:
==========
(1) Regarding the Halachic practice today, see Insights to 7:1.
(2) Kesuvos 3a; however, there are some who prohibit getting married on Friday since Beis Din does not convene on Shabbos. See Insights, ibid.
(3) Kesuvos 3a.
(4) This actually is not a reason to get *married* on Wednesday, but rather to perform the Be'ilas Mitzvah on Wednesday night (for a Besulah) or Thursday night (for an Almanah).
(5) The reason of "Berachah" does not obligate a person. It is merely a Rabbinical recommendation (Tosfos 2a, DH v'Tinasei; 3a, DH Ishah; 5a, DH Mai).
(6) That is, Chazal wanted the Chasan to rejoice with her for three days (see Chart #4). Thursday he will not work and will be free to rejoice with her because it is the day of the Chupah, Friday he will not work and will be free to rejoice with her because of Chibas Bi'ah (Rashi), and Shabbos he will be free to rejoice with her because Melachah is prohibited in any case. (That is, the enactment of "Shakdu" for an Almanah is actually to get married on Thursday, and to perform Be'ilah on Friday.)
(7) The same applies if Yom Tov falls on any other day of the week, if he separates the day of the Chupah from the day of the Be'ilah. For example, if Yom Tov falls on Tuesday, it is permitted to get married on Sunday and to perform the Be'ilah on Monday, since Tuesday because it is Yom Tov and that will leave him three days of rejoicing (RITVA).
(8) According to the opinion that does not hold that the Berachah of man is preferable to that of fish, an unemployed man should get married on Wednesday (to perform the Be'ilah on *Thursday*), because that is the day on which Hashem gave the Berachah to the fish (see Rashi 5a, DH Adam Batel, and Tosfos DH Mai).
