DAF DISCUSSIONS - TEMURAH 20

Barry Epstein asked:

If one consecrated without specific intent, R' Eliezer holds that the males are sold for the needs of olah offerings. Why can't the owner just offer the animal as an olah himself?

Barry Epstein, Dallas, USA

The Kollel replies:

He relinquished his personal rights to it by giving it to Hekdesh. However, since it is unblemished, it must be sacrificed with the benifit to Hekdesh.
