DAF DISCUSSIONS - CHULIN 100

Barry Epstein asked:

The Artscroll notes say that on 69a-b that the gid of a fetus is permitted without shechitah (once the mother has had shechitah). Do we eat the gid of a fetus today? Why or why not?

Barry Epstein, Dallas, USA

The Kollel replies:

The Shulchan Aruch (YD 65:6) writes that although it is permitted if the fetus was found dead, the Minhag is to follow the view that it is forbidden if the fetus was found alive.
