What is the definition of "Bohak"?

Rashi #1: It is a mark on the skin that resembles the faint white spots that appear between the red marks on the skin of a red-skinned person.

Rashi #2 (in Nidah, 19a): It means 'white spots' - like a rash that one finds on the faces of youths.

Seeing as the white of Bohak is less white than the four appearances of Tzara'as - which we already know is Tahor - why does the Torah need to mention it at all?

Torah Temimah: Because it is from here that we know that less than the white of an egg is Tahor. 1

Oznayim la'Torah: To teach us that it is a plague - albeit a Tahor one - and that consequently, if it appears after the Nega has spread to the entire body, it does not render the Metzora Tamei, since it is not considered healthy flesh.

Sifra: And "Bohak hu ... Tahor hu" teaches us that if it spreads it is also Tahor from the Din of Pisyon. See Torah Temimah, note 160.

Why does the Torah insert the (otherwise superluous) words "Parach ba'Or"?

Sifra: To teach us that a Bohak is Tahor, not only as an initial Nega, but also from the Din of Pisyon.

What is the word Tahor Hu" coming to preclude?

Sifra: It precludes a Baheres that grows from the Bohak, from the Din of Taharah.
