1)

Why is the 'Gimel' in "Ve'hisgalach" large?

1.

Ba'al ha'Turim and Moshav Zekenim: It hints at the three people who need to shave all their hair [on their bodies, or for a Nazir, on his head] - a Nazir, 1 a Metzora and the Levi'im (when they were inaugurated). 2

2.

Torah Temimah: Because it is the middle Pasuk in the Torah, 3 as the Gemara points out in Kidushin 30a.

3.

Oznayim la'Torah: It is a hint that, as opposed to Tum'as Basar Nesakim, Nesakim require three shavings, including the shaving during the Taharah ceremony.

3

This clashes with our tradition however. See Point by Point Summary of the Daf (Kidushin 30a, 3:a-c:2). Daf Al ha'Daf (citing R. Y. Alter) answers that it is the middle of the Pesukim with big letters. See also Torah Temimah, note 144.

2)

Seeing as there are no hairs in the Nesek, what does the Pasuk mean when it writes "ve'es ha'Nesek Lo Yegale'ach"?

1.

Rashi (citing the Sifra) and Targum Yonasan: It means that, when shaving around the Nesek, the Kohen should leave two hairs at the extremity of the Nesek, so that it will be discernable should it spread during the seven days of Hesger beyond the shaven area. 1

2.

Ramban and Moshav Zekenim: It is a Lo Sa'aseh against shaving the skin of the Nesek. 2

1

See Oznayim la'Torah, who asks why it needs to go beyond the shaven area and it will not suffice for it to have spread up to and including the area of the unshaven hairs?

2

Ramban and Moshav Zekeinim: Because it causes hair to grow there. See Torah Temimah, note 149.

3)

Why does the Torah not write "Lo Yevaker ... la'Se'or ha'Tzahok", like it does in Pasuk 36, where the Nesek spreads after the Metzora has been dclare Tahor.

1.

Oznayim la'Torah: Because based on the fact that the yellow hairs require seven full days in order to reach the Shi'ur Tum'ah, 1 and bearing in mind that the second week begins on the seventh daqy and ends on the thirteenth, there is no point in searching for the yellow hairs at the end of the second week, since if they were not there when the second week began, they will not yet have reached the Shi'ur Tum'ah by the end - only six days later. 2

1

See Oznayim la'Torah.

2

This amswer is problematic howeever, since, perhapos the Torah is spealing where the yellow hairs had begun to grow at the beginning of the second week, but had not yet reached the Shi'ur Tum'ah - which they had by the end of the week?
