Why does it say that Yosef and his father's house lived in Egypt?

1.

Malbim: His Shalom continued his entire life -the Shalom of his kingship ("va'Yeshev... b'Mitzrayim"), and the Shalom of his family ("Hu u'Veis Aviv" - there was love and brotherhood between them).

2.

Ha'amek Davar: It equates Yosef and his father's house. One could not tell a difference in the standard of living between Yosef (the ruler) and they (strangers in Egypt). He tried to equate in every way how he lived and how they lived.

2)

Why does our verse mention that Yosef lived 110 years? It is repeated below (50:26) where we would expect to find it - upon his passing!

1.

Malbim: This is rare for rulers, that a king should rule for 80 years!

2.

Ha'amek Davar: This teaches that his years were shortened for conducting with authority. Even though he dwelled with "Beis Aviv" (i.e., he tried to equate how he lived and how they lived 1 ), his life was shortened, for sometimes he needed to show authority over them, or he did so b'Shogeg.
