What is the significance of the words "ba'Yom ha'Hu"?

Ramban: The Torah is pointing out that on the very same occasion, not only did Ya'akov refuse to remove his right hand from the head of Efrayim, but he went on to mention Efrayim before Menasheh.

Why is the word "Leimor" spelt with a 'Vav'?

Ba'al ha'Turim #1: Because in six places the Torah places Efrayim before Menasheh. 1

2.

Ba'al ha'Turim: To hint at the six righteous Shoftim that descended from him.

3.

Tosfos ha'Shalem (5): This hints at six Brachos (each Brachah of Birkas Kohanim is two, e.g. Yevarechecha and v'Yishmerecha).

Seeing as Yakov is speaking about Efrayim and Menasheh, why did he say "Becha" in the singular?

Ramban: Although Ya'akov is speaking about Efrayim and Menasheh, he is actually telling Yosef that Yisrael will bless their sons through his (Yosef's sons). 1

Moshav Zekenim: Yakov meant that a man will bless and say to his son "[Bnei] Yisrael will bless through you "

Bearing in mind that, the fact that they were worthy of taking his place as two tribes, was a tribute to him, for having succeeded in bringing them up in the midst of Tum'as Mitzrayim.

What did Ya'akov mean when he said "In you Yisrael will bless ... "?

Rashi, Rashbam and Targum Yonasan: He meant that whenever a Yisrael comes to bless his son, 1 he will bless him with the words of this Pasuk "Yesimcha Elokim ... ".

According to Targum, it speaks specifically on the day of his B'ris.

Why does the Torah need to state that Ya'akov mentioned Efrayim before Menasheh?

1.

Rashi: To teach us that Efrayim would precede Menasheh with regard to the Degalim in the desert, and by the inauguration of the Nesi'im (in Parshas Naso). 1

Ramban: It means that he placed Efrayim before Menasheh in all his Berachos.

3.

Targum Yonasan: It means that when listing the tribes, Efrayim takes precedence over Menasheh.

רש"י: הבא לברך את בניו: ממה בא רש"י להוציא?

גור אריה: אין כאן מצות עשה לברך כך את ישראל שהרי יעקב לא מצוה מצוות לישראל, אלא שאפרים ומנשה יהיו כל כך חשובים עד שבהם יברכו את הבנים.

רש"י: בברכתו לפני מנשה: כבר בפסוק ה' הוקדם אפרים?

גור אריה: שם אפשר לומר שאם היה מקדים את מנשה היה מקום לטעות שכוונת יעקב שמנשה יחשב כבכור כמו ראובן, ולכן הקדים את אפרים לומר שאין כאן בכור- שהרי אפרים בודאי לא בכור.

2.

גור אריה: שם בודאי יש להקדים את אפרים כי הוא למד תורה מיעקב, אבל לברכה הבכור קודם.
