What are the implications of the suffix ?Lemiyneihu??

Peninim mi?Shulchan ha?G?ra: ?le?Miynah? (with a ?Hey?), would have denoted females; le?Miyno? (whith a ?Vav?) males, ?le'Miyneihu? with both a ?Hey? and a ?Vav?, teaches us that Hashemm created both female and male species of all the different species of animals.

In the previous verse (1:24), Hashem commanded the earth to produce four categories of living creatures. In this verse, it lists three, and omits "Nefesh Chayah"!

Chumash ha'Gra: "Nefesh Chayah" alludes to Shedim. The verb "Asiyah" does not apply to them, for their Ru'ach was created, but not their bodies.

QUESTIONS ON RASHI

Rashi writes: "Hashem made [the animals] - [i.e.] He established them, with beauty (b'Tzivyonam), fully formed and grown." Why doesn't Rashi explain the word "made" in the simplest sense?

Gur Aryeh: This was already expressed in the preceding verse (1:24); "Let the earth bring forth... [and it was so]."

Rashi writes: "He established them "b'Tzivyonam," fully formed, and fully grown." What does this mean?

Gur Aryeh: According to the Aruch, 'Tzivyonam' means 'their beauty,' or 'splendor.' Alternatively, it means 'willingness' (Rashi to Chulin 60a). Each animal fully agreed that the form that Hashem chose for it was the one most suited for its character and needs.

Maharal (Derech Chayim 6:10, p. 322): The animals were created fully grown, 1 at full awareness (e.g., a mature bull intuits more than a calf does), and in full beauty. These three represent wholeness in Chomer, Tzurah and in their G-dly aspect respectively. (Beauty is not physical, but rather a reflection of the Divine. 2 )

The Midrash (Shir ha'Shirim Raba 3:11) interprets the phrase "ha'Melech Shelomo" (in Shir ha'Shirim) as referring to Hashem, "the King Who created His creatures in fullness (Sheleimus)." Radal (loc. cit.) cites this as the source that the animals were created at full height. (EK)

Rashi writes: "He established them "b'Tzivyonam," fully formed, and fully grown." From the Gemara (Chulin 60a), it seems that this was true for all of the creations; why does Rashi cite this specifically here?

Gur Aryeh: Among the animals created on day six are many species that people may find repulsive, such as the rat and the mole. Nonetheless, they too were created b'Tzivyonam - they received the form they would also choose for themselves, and they too are beautiful in accordance with their nature and function.
